Love this place. Great, cheap, healthy food, and the folks who work there are very nice. Excellent for a quick lunch or dinner--every time I call for take out they tell me it'll be ready in 10-15 minutes. The fries are excellent, and a sandwich meal costs you less than 6 bucks, a bit more if you want to add on a drink. Hard to beat that price when McDonald's is only a mile away charging the same price for processed beef and mass-produced ingredients. The only reason I rated this place 4 stars is that the dining room leaves something to be desired. The bright, fluorescent lighting and the window view of the intersection of 61 and County Rd E do not make for the ideal ambiance of a nice night out, but I could not recommend this place much higher!

We were looking for some place to eat besides the usual chains. Yelp steered us to Black Sea and we enjoy Mediterranean food so we thought we couldn't lose. We had a huge kebab combo that was spiced just right with salad and rice and lovely Greek olives. Save room for the baklava. Chatted up the owner about our trip to Istanbul (his home). A great dinner at a reasonable price. Don't miss it!

Who knew Fantastic Turkish food here in White Bear Lake, We have officially tried everything on the menu and it is all wonderful. The kids love to come here and the prices are very good. The owners work it and are fantastic people and they do a great job. They are great for take out or eat in, but is is very casual not a lot of ambiance but hey I'm here to enjoy the food.

Great Turkish restaurant! It is a must try if you enjoy Mediterranean food. We have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. The building does not appear to be a restaurant, so don't let the frontage fool you.

One of my kids' favorite places. We have had just about everything on the menu, even the Turkish coffee. Our favorite, of course, is the sampler. The salad is exceptional and the hummus is spectacular. The iced tea and lemonade are favored in our family over soda. It's not a big place, but you will get good service and great Mediterranean food.

I've wanted to stop in for some time....made a point to do so Saturday for lunch.....and glad I did! Went basic with a Doner sandwich with beef and lamb. Spot on! The flavor was fantastic and stayed with me all afternoon. I ordered fries but wished I had ordered rice instead. Clearly the owners care about their food and will be sure to explore more of the menu next time I go (which will be soon) . Stopped in for a 2nd time.....excellent!

A neighborhood gem. My personal favorite is #25 (Tavuk Kebab) spicy. Dolmas with warm pita bread are a great start to the meal. Their homemade yogurt sauce is particularly good. Great hospitality and quality food every visit. A+ and 5 stars in my book.

Enjoyed our food tremendously. The outside doesn't look fancy, but it's locally owned and the service and food is excellent. Highly recommended. Priced well too. I had the chicken and my friend had the beef tips. Both excellent!

This place was not a memorably bad experience, but certainly not a memorably good one either. We didn't have anything I would be excited to have again. The spinach appetizer could have used a lot more feta cheese. The eggplant appetizer was pretty good. I ordered the doner and it was mediocre. The meat was bland, though there was a decent portion of it. My cousin ordered the combination plate and was equally unimpressed. The tzatziki sauce was really watery and was so strong (garlic, I think?) that I can still taste an aftertaste 2 hours later. The service was good and the prices reasonable, I wouldn't eat here again based on the lackluster food.

This is the satellite restaurant to the original in Minneapolis, and is conveniently situated nearby me. I was delighted to find there was a Turkish restaurant so close! When we arrived, I realized I'd driven past it without noticing it. The signage was unfortunately inconspicuous and more reminiscent of an auto shop than a restaurant. However, once inside we were treated warmly and seated. The atmosphere was somewhat Spartan (get it? I slay me!) and while the tables and floor were very clean it was the only real detractor to our dining experience. We ate the Iskender kebab and another kebab plate after dolmas and spinach borek, all of which were delicious. The leftovers were just as good! I will definitely return.

This is a great little gem. The doner (gyro meat for those unfamiliar with the Turkish term) is delicious. I also love the lentil soup. Nicely seasoned, and especially wonderful if you ask for a little lemon. I am not a fan of the falafel, but my friends are. It is pretty "bready". and I prefer the kind you find in Jerusalem with lots and lots of herbs and little to no bread filling. The Turkish coffee is a great pick-me-up. It's a totally laid back place. The people who work there are down to earth and friendly. Ethan, the head chef, is Cordon Bleu trained and just an all around nice guy. The place is clean, and the service is fast. Great place.

I had the #5 appetizer. It was fresh and delicious. Service was prompt. The price was very reasonable. Looking forward to coming back to try something else.

This is an outstanding Turkish restaurant. The service is outstanding and the food, while inexpensive, is delicious. I recommend the kebab combo. It provides great variety and is always fresh and tasty.

Wanted something different for lunch and found the Black Sea. Very simple, inexpensive, but quite good. The fried eggplant appetizer was delicious: four slices of fried eggplant with a little yogurt sauce and hot sauce, and no breading. It was soft, slightly sweet with nice chewy skin. Cathie got the cold cacik soup: yogurt, cucumber, mint etc. Refreshing, but not my cup of tea. Cathie got a doner pita sandwich (a gyro). It was excellent. Meaty and tender. They roast the meat there and it is so much better than the frozen reheated meat you get most places. I had the Kofte dinner: little beef patties, nicely seasoned with grilled onion, peppers and tomato over rice. Initially, I thought I'd have some leftovers, but couldn't stop! The pita accompanying everything was soft and delicious. We will be back!

My wife and I had dinner here tonight as we have been lapsed to try this new restaurant in White Bear Lake. We had the borek-spinach for an appetizer, the combination Kebab with rice for our entrée (which serves two but really four) and baklava for dessert. The food was excellent for a very really reasonable price. It is not a fancy restaurant, rather they focus on great food and great service. We will definitely return after we finish your leftovers!

Black Sea is my favorite "fast food" place and one of the only places I frequent for takeout. Hole in the wall. Tiny kitchen. Very capable cooks. I didn't know rice could be so tender and flavorful. Exquisite. The Black Sea combo plate for a single easily feeds 2. The donner and kofta are wonderful. Would get five stars if the chicken kebab wasn't a little dry. The combination of grilled peppers, onions, and tomatoes along with the fresh tomato, onions, and lettuce really adds a nice level of crunch and acidity. Their falafel isn't the best in the Cities, but they are better than average...and not greasy. So glad this place is in my neighborhood. When I am hungry and don't feel like cooking, I feel well cared for and happy that I have options to junky fast food places.

Food is decent. We've been hunting for good Mediterranean since moving here. This place comes closest. Not fabulous but good. Friendly service, super casual atmosphere. Prices aren't cheap but comparable to other middle eastern joints & the Portions are huge! We'd go back.

Food is just as delicious as the original location, see my review here: yelp.com/biz/black-sea-r… My recommendation: tavuk doner. We tried the spinach borek (baklava-style pastry dough stuffed with spinach and feta). This was also the best I've had (the flaky dough was thinner, less overwhelming allow the flavor of the filling to stand out). And good news: This location is much less cramped than the old one and offers more seating. This spot emphasizes solid, authentic food over atmosphere (which is plenty clean, but not trendy nor trying to impress) at a very reasonable price.

It's this small restaurant with the best Greek food, friendly service, and is pretty cheap for the quality of food you receive!!! We had eggplant, dolma (rice and feta cheese covered in grape leaves) , and a falafel all for appetizers. Literally everything was delicious and it was my first time trying falafel. For our main dish, we got a huge platter of different types of meats (including beef, chicken and lamb), cooked peppers, lettuce and flat bread. So good!! This is my new go to place!

We just love this place! The meat is so good. Perfect seasonings. We love making our own sandwiches and their homemade yogurt sauce and hot sauce just add to the the flavor burst. If We have leftovers, I can't stop thinking about them. This place is highly addictive and great prices. We just went 2 times in one week. Thank you Black Sea for you kind service and quality food!

Fast, cheap, and tasty. The mixed doner (#14) with rice is fantastic. My boyfriend and I come here regularly. The dinners for two are also wonderful, always more food than we can eat in one sitting.

An interesting and unassuming restaurant located near County Road E and Highway 61, this restaurant delivers flavorful ethnic food at reasonable prices. Based upon the reviews, my group started the meal with the spinach borek. A nice layer of spinach layered between layers of flakey phillo dough with some pockets of feta cheese was a great way to start. Not sure why it was served with some lettuce in the middle but overlooking it, flavor was there. The main consisted of the Sultans kebab combination which was tasty overall. The fries were crisp and flavorful but the Greek salad was both lack luster and unamazing... Nothing you couldn't either make or just pick up at the store. The cubes of meat and the patties were all juicy and well seasoned. Paired with the peppers, warmed pita and complimentary taziki sauce, you can create a perfect pocket if you so choose. The slices of meat, while still tasty, in my opinion appeared a bit dry so may have been a bit older than I prefer. Finally, we ended the meal with baklava which is always hard to find well made but the slices here were not over the top sweet and had a good ratio of filling to phillo. While some little technical issues exist, overall this has a lot of potential I think to helping bring good ethnic food to the northeast burbs.

What a little gem! Authentic Turkish cuisine - platters and sandwiches - that taste great and are so cheap. The place isn't fancy, it's more of a little cafe, but the food tastes great and the price is right. I had the mixed doner sandwich, it hit the spot. The staff are Turkish, very friendly and ready to answer any questions about the menu. Great place to stop in for lunch. There are also a few items on the menu for those less adventurous diners... like a plain hamburger... but give the doner a try, it's delicious!

I liked this place and it's great to have another option around where we can grab a quick dinner that isn't pizza or chinese food. We went on a Friday night with our 2 children for dinner. One small complaint: no kids menu. They have high chairs but no smaller options for kids. When I asked, they recommended the cheeseburger... We had some hummus to start which was quite tasty but needed more pitas. Hubs had the Kofte Kebab which he liked and I had the chicken doner plate which I turned into a salad with the tzatzki sauce. Warning: the tzatzki has a little kick to it! We chose to end with baklava which was also quite tasty. One word of warning: when the restauran started to get busy, we didn't see our server for a while. We sat for some time waiting to ask for a to go box and our check. We were not the only table waiting. All in all, good food, good prices and a great alternative to the norm.

So lucky to have this restaurant out in the suburbs! We started out with the Turkish lemonade which was cool and refreshing and then had the hummus and pita bread appetizer. The hummus was creamy heaven and the pita bread was soft and pillowy! My son and I both had doner sandwiches served with rice and were completely stuffed afterwards. I thought mine was pretty salty, but I rarely add extra salt when cooking/eating so I have a low tolerance for salt. Somehow, we managed to share a baklava which was unimpressive (very dry and not much flavor). Service was friendly and fast for us. The place got busy while we were there and I think people had to wait longer to get their food than we did. The setting is nothing special, but it is clean and spacious. Take out option will be handy and well used by our family.

I gotta say, I just have been at Black Sea Restaurant once and wasn't expecting the quality of the food and the service! Definitely will be back. Employees were really kind, on top of that it is the most affordable place to eat around White Bear! The best fine dining Turkish Restaurant I have been so far-on a side note; they have beer and wine! Keep up the good work fellas :)

We just moved to MN from the Metro Detroit area and our biggest issue is the lack of Mediterranean food.....keep in mind in Detroit there is a spot on almost every corner. We tripped into this place....ahem, thanks to yelp search....and have developed a full on crush. The only warning I have - the garlic sauce is rocking....start slow and then increase. Our combo platter for two was amazing. We ordered the Black Sea kebab for two. The chicken and beef was insanely yummy prompting a fork battle for the last pieces!

Went there for a birthday dinner. It was the best Mediterranean food I have ever had. In the past I have tried falaffel, and not liked it, but this was some of the best I have ever had. We ordered 4 meals, the 25, 25, 26 and veggie sandwich as well as the appetizer for 3. No complaints at all. Nice family run business with friendly and accommodating staff. The cucumber sauce was great too. Will be there again, especially with the great portion sizes.

Authentic, delicious, friendly staff. Clean and the interior looks better than the exterior, but not much ambiance. I'm excited to go back again and try something different. Had the gyros this time they were excellent. Rice was kind of blah. Prices were very reasonable. I noticed while ordering at the counter that they have Turkish coffee also. I love Turkish coffee and look forward to trying it there!

Not a big fan. I spent years in Germany. Have eaten many many kabobs. The food here was way too "American". Dry meat with boring green luttuce. Not worth going back

Black Sea is a flavorful inexpensive low key (hole-in-the-wall) dining. I had their feast for three which gave me a chance to try some of everything. My observations are that they must not be able to make anything that is tough. Their shaved chicken was tender! I expected it to be rather tough and bland but was pleasantly shocked. Their shaved lamb was also tender and flavorful. The kabob meats as well as the beef patty were amazing. I have heard quite a bit about their french fries too and was pleasantly surprised to find every fry in the massive mountain of food to be perfectly fried. The salad I hear was pretty good but typically I don't touch the salad. Use their excellent white sauce out of the squeeze bottle on everything. And use lots of it....everyone else does and it is tasty. Wash down the meal with some of their homemade and delicious lemonade, perfectly sweet. And follow with a generous baklava...it's big and rich enough to split. The feast, 2 cups of lemonade, an order of the spinach pie and 2 pieces of baklava came out to about 40 bucks and we had leftovers.

I love this place. The owners are always there when I come in for lunch. The food is delicious. I can try a wide variety of things, and the prices are really good for the quality of food. I sometimes wish the portions were a little bigger on the gyro sandwiches, but I'm a big guy with a big appetite. It's probably fine for most people.

The distance I live from the original has never been a deterrent to going to one of my favorite St Paul eateries but the proximity of the new location had me watching and waiting for it to open for months now. Finally dropped by and except for a more spacious dining room, the high quality tasty food, generous portions and awesome prices remain, making Black Sea an always excellent dining out experience. I love this place!!!

This is one of the best restaurant in twin cities. Yummy food and great service. They just started serving wine and beer which is great. I go there once a week and I always leave happy and staffed. I can't find anything to complain about this place. Blacksea is a fabulous place to dine with your family and friends. I recommend to everybody.

I can't speak to the restaurant's ambiance because someone picked food up and brought it to me, however the food was very good! Can't beat the prices too, lots of food for a little money. I'm sure I'll be frequenting this place for take out!

Loved everything about their original location in St Paul, except how far it was from my home. This new installment fixes that and now I'm a regular. Portions are generous, price is reasonable and taste is exceptional. Wish I could give 6 stars!
